Getting here from El Segundo

The trip is about 6 to 8 miles. Sepulveda Blvd north passes the airport and continues to Venice Blvd; turn west into Mar Vista. The 405 north to the Venice Blvd exit can be faster when traffic is light. Outside rush hour, expect about 20 to 30 minutes; airport traffic can add more. Bus and rail connections exist through the LAX area to Venice Blvd, but a trip planner is the best way to check current routes.

For employers: non DOT testing only

El Segundo employers sometimes need drug and alcohol testing outside federal DOT rules, such as return to work agreements after treatment or testing that is part of an employee assistance plan. We provide that, with scheduled or random tests, a single point of contact, and results shared only with people the employee authorizes in writing.

We do not perform DOT regulated testing. If a position is covered by DOT rules, use a collection site that handles DOT testing. See our services for what we do offer.

For workers getting back on track

If you are returning to work after treatment, regular testing can show your employer, and yourself, that the changes are holding. A random testing program sends you an electronic notice when it is time to test. Office testing runs Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, by appointment; outside those hours, we can arrange testing at other Blackburn locations on the Westside. If leaving work is not realistic, mobile testing at your workplace or home is available for an additional fee.

Why positives are confirmed

An instant screen is presumptive. When a result could affect someone’s job, it should be confirmed. The National Institute on Drug Abuse describes testing as a screen followed by a more specific confirmation test, and cautions that results should not be the only basis for decisions about someone’s care (NIDA). We send positives that will be acted on to partner laboratories for confirmation, and chain of custody documentation is available when needed.

Families in El Segundo

Testing is not only about work. Testing can replace arguments with facts, shared with consent, and a coordinator can help your family decide what to do with them, including connecting you with therapy, psychiatric care or one-on-one mentoring for accountability and structure.

Tests available to El Segundo clients

  • 12 panel urine drug test for common drug classes, with results in minutes.
  • EtG alcohol test for drinking over recent days, and a breathalyzer for alcohol right now.
  • Saliva testing on request, in person.
  • Partner laboratory confirmation for positives, and chain of custody documentation when needed.

Bring a photo ID and a list of your medications to every test. Some prescriptions can show on a screen, and knowing about them up front means results are read correctly and fairly.

Cost

Our testing is low cost. Your total depends on the tests, frequency, mobile visits and whether lab confirmation or written reports are needed. See all areas we serve.

Need more than testing?

Monitoring is the first step, not the last. If a result or a hard week tells you more help is needed, Blackburn can connect you to it.

Your monitoring coordinator can make the introduction.
