Drug and alcohol testing near Palms
In short
Blackburn Monitoring is about 2 to 3 miles west of Palms along Venice Blvd, at 12326 Venice Blvd in Mar Vista. Palms residents can test by appointment Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, or arrange mobile testing at home for an additional fee.
Palms sits between Culver City and Mar Vista, with the 10 to the north and the 405 to the west. It is one of the most apartment dense neighborhoods on the Westside, and many residents are young adults sharing apartments with roommates.

Getting here from Palms
Most of Palms is 2 to 3 miles from our office. Drive west on Venice Blvd, under the 405, and into Mar Vista; Palms Blvd and National Blvd are good alternatives that also lead west. Outside rush hour, the trip usually takes around 10 minutes. By rail, the Metro E Line’s Palms station is on the north side of the neighborhood; to reach us, most riders connect by bus to Venice Blvd, where Metro bus line 33 runs past our office. Check a trip planner for current routes.
Privacy when you share a home
Testing at home is not private when you have roommates, and a home test kit is easy to beat and is not confirmed. That is one reason coming to the office can be the better choice: no one at home has to know, and results are shared only with the people you authorize in writing. If home is the better place for you, mobile testing is available for an additional fee.
Young adults and their families
Sometimes a parent calls first. We will talk with you about what testing can and cannot answer, but an adult’s results belong to them. We share results only with the people the person being tested authorizes in writing. Testing tends to work best when it is agreed to, not imposed, and when it is part of a broader plan. Read more on our page about teen and young adult testing.
The National Institute on Drug Abuse notes that a drug test result alone does not diagnose a substance use disorder (NIDA). A coordinator can help a family decide whether a conversation with a therapist should come first, and Blackburn Clinical Services offers assessment, therapy and psychiatric care.
A schedule that is hard to plan around
Our random testing program sends you an electronic notice when it is time to test, so there is no way to plan use around a known date. Because the office is close to Palms, showing up on short notice is realistic. Outside office hours, testing can be arranged at other Blackburn locations on the Westside.
Tests available to Palms clients
- 12 panel urine drug test for common drug classes, with results in minutes.
- EtG alcohol test for drinking over recent days, and a breathalyzer for alcohol right now.
- Saliva testing on request, in person.
- Partner laboratory confirmation for positives, and chain of custody documentation when needed.
Bring a photo ID and a list of your medications to every test. Some prescriptions can show on a screen, and knowing about them up front means results are read correctly and fairly.
Cost
Our testing is low cost, which matters for younger clients paying their own way. Your total depends on the tests, frequency, mobile visits and whether lab confirmation or written reports are needed. If cost is a barrier to treatment, The Blackburn Foundation offers treatment scholarships. See all areas we serve.
Need more than testing?
Monitoring is the first step, not the last. If a result or a hard week tells you more help is needed, Blackburn can connect you to it.

Common questions
I live with roommates in Palms. Can testing stay private?
Yes. Testing at our office keeps it out of your home, and results go only to people you authorize in writing.
Which Metro station is nearest to Palms?
The E Line's Palms station is on the north side of the neighborhood. To reach our office, connect by bus to Venice Blvd.
Can a parent call before their adult child agrees?
Testing works only with their agreement, and an adult controls who sees their results. A coordinator can help you plan that conversation.
Why not just use a store test cup in a shared apartment?
An unobserved home cup is easy to tamper with and is not confirmed. Testing with us adds a person, lab confirmation of positives and results that others can trust.
