Drug and alcohol testing near Playa Vista

In short

Blackburn Monitoring is about 2 to 3 miles north of Playa Vista at 12326 Venice Blvd, Los Angeles, a straight drive up Centinela Ave. Testing is by appointment Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, with mobile testing at home or work for an additional fee.

Playa Vista is a newer, planned neighborhood within the City of Los Angeles, below the Westchester bluffs and next to the Ballona Wetlands. It is full of young families and people who work in the area’s offices, and both groups tend to want the same thing from testing: something efficient, private and done right.

Getting to us from Playa Vista

Centinela Ave runs north from the Playa Vista area straight into Mar Vista and across Venice Blvd. Turn onto Venice Blvd and you are nearly there. Total distance is roughly 2 to 3 miles, usually 10 to 15 minutes outside rush hour. Lincoln Blvd north to Venice Blvd is the alternate route. By bus, routes on Centinela Ave and Lincoln Blvd connect to Venice Blvd, where Metro bus line 33 runs past our office.

Because the trip is short, Playa Vista is one of the easiest places on the Westside to keep up with a random schedule. Most people can get a notice, finish what they are doing and still make it in the same day.

Testing for working professionals

If your schedule is packed, book a time at the start or end of your workday; office hours run Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM. If you are on a random program, you receive an electronic notice when to report. If leaving work is the barrier, mobile testing at your home or workplace is available for an additional fee, and other Blackburn locations on the Westside can be arranged outside office hours.

For licensed professionals in a monitoring program, private testing with us can sit alongside your board’s required vendor; it does not replace it.

Employers in and around Playa Vista

For non DOT employers, we provide return to work and other agreed testing with a single point of contact. Results go only to people the employee authorizes in writing, and positives that will be acted on are confirmed by partner laboratories. We do not perform DOT regulated testing. See our testing services.

Parents of teens

Playa Vista has many families with school age children. If you are wondering whether to test a teenager, start with a conversation. The American Academy of Pediatrics has cautioned about home drug testing of adolescents (AAP clinical report), and testing should never be a substitute for talking with your child. Our page on testing for families explains a respectful, consent based approach, and our coordinators can point you to therapy at Blackburn Clinical Services if that is the better first step.

Tests available to Playa Vista clients

  • 12 panel urine drug test for common drug classes, with results in minutes.
  • EtG alcohol test for drinking over recent days, and a breathalyzer for alcohol right now.
  • Saliva testing on request, in person.
  • Partner laboratory confirmation for positives, and chain of custody documentation when needed.

Bring a photo ID and a list of your medications to every test. Some prescriptions can show on a screen, and knowing about them up front means results are read correctly and fairly.

Cost and booking

Our testing is low cost. Your total depends on the tests, frequency, mobile visits and whether lab confirmation or written reports are needed. Call to set up a plan, or see all areas we serve.

Need more than testing?

Monitoring is the first step, not the last. If a result or a hard week tells you more help is needed, Blackburn can connect you to it.

Your monitoring coordinator can make the introduction.
