Routes from Santa Monica
- From downtown or Ocean Park: Lincoln Blvd south to Venice Blvd, then east into Mar Vista. Usually around 15 to 20 minutes outside rush hour.
- From the eastern side of the city: Centinela Ave or Bundy Dr south toward Venice Blvd. Often the quickest route from neighborhoods near the city line.
- By transit: Metro and Santa Monica’s own bus system both connect to Venice Blvd, where Metro bus line 33 runs past our office. Use a trip planner for the best current route.
Lincoln Blvd can back up at commute times. If you are on a random program and get a notice on a busy afternoon, call your coordinator; we would rather adjust the timing than have you skip a test.
When the office is not practical
Some people in Santa Monica have demanding schedules or simply want testing to stay private. For them, mobile testing at home or work is available for an additional fee. Outside office hours, testing can also be arranged at other Blackburn locations on the Westside.
Who we can help in Santa Monica
Licensed professionals
Doctors, nurses, lawyers and other professionals use private accountability testing alongside any program their board requires. We do not replace a board’s contracted vendor.
Families
Parents of teens and adult children who want clear answers, with consent based sharing and a coordinator to explain results.
Legal matters
Santa Monica is its own city with its own police department, and court matters go through the county’s courthouses. We offer court ordered testing with chain of custody documentation when needed.
For professionals, see support for licensed professionals. For legal matters, ask your attorney whether a specific vendor or format is required.
Drugs and alcohol in one visit
A single appointment can cover both. A 12 panel urine cup screens for common drug classes, and an EtG test looks for drinking over recent days. Research by Lowe and colleagues found that EtG cutoffs of about 100 ng/mL still identified drinking at 72 hours in addiction treatment patients, which is why EtG is a strong choice between appointments.
Tests available to Santa Monica clients
- 12 panel urine drug test for common drug classes, with results in minutes.
- EtG alcohol test for drinking over recent days, and a breathalyzer for alcohol right now.
- Saliva testing on request, in person.
- Partner laboratory confirmation for positives, and chain of custody documentation when needed.
Bring a photo ID and a list of your medications to every test. Some prescriptions can show on a screen, and knowing about them up front means results are read correctly and fairly.
Cost and next steps
Testing is low cost. Your total depends on the tests you choose, frequency, mobile visits and whether lab confirmation or written reports are needed. Call to talk with a coordinator, or see directions and what to bring and all areas we serve.
Need more than testing?
Monitoring is the first step, not the last. If a result or a hard week tells you more help is needed, Blackburn can connect you to it.
