Getting to us from Commerce

The fastest route is usually the I-5 or I-710 to the I-10 west, then the I-405 south a short distance to Venice Blvd, or surface streets from the I-10. Outside rush hour, plan on about 30 to 45 minutes. Metrolink trains stop in Commerce, and connecting from downtown Los Angeles to the Westside by Metro rail and bus is possible but slow, so check the trip planner first.

Commerce and the courts

Commerce contracts with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for law enforcement. Court matters from this area may be handled at a courthouse such as the East Los Angeles Courthouse, which is in the Superior Court’s Central District, or in the Southeast District, so check your paperwork to see where yours is set. We offer court ordered testing with chain of custody documentation when needed.

Work and family

Students in Commerce generally attend Montebello Unified School District schools. For workers, we provide non DOT testing such as return to work agreements, with results shared only with people the employee authorizes in writing. We do not perform DOT regulated testing.

Testing options

Whether you need one test this week or a structure for the next year, Commerce clients choose from four options:

  • One-time testing. A single scheduled test when you need an answer now.
  • Random testing program. You are notified when to report, so tests cannot be planned around. See our random drug testing program.
  • Ongoing monitoring. A coordinator who knows you, a schedule that can change as things improve, and results shared only with people you authorize in writing. Learn about drug and alcohol monitoring.
  • Court ordered testing. Court ordered testing with chain of custody documentation when it is needed.

Tests include a 12 panel urine drug test that covers common substances such as opioids, stimulants, benzodiazepines and cannabis, fentanyl testing, an EtG alcohol test, a breathalyzer, and saliva testing on request. Positives that will be acted on are confirmed by partner laboratories. Bring a photo ID to intake. Observed collection is used when a court, program or agreement requires it. Mobile testing

Mobile testing at a home or workplace is offered for an additional fee. Commerce is a long way from our Westside office, so mobile testing may be available in your area; call to ask before you plan around it. Outside office hours, testing can also be arranged at other Blackburn locations on the Westside.
