Drug and alcohol testing near Gardena
In short
Blackburn Monitoring is about 13 miles from Gardena, at 12326 Venice Blvd in Mar Vista. Gardena residents can test by appointment Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, with low cost options from a single test to ongoing monitoring.
Gardena is a South Bay city surrounded by freeways, with the I-405, I-110 and CA-91 all close by. That makes the trip to the Westside more manageable than from many parts of the county. We have no office in Gardena, but we are a reasonable drive away.

Getting to us from Gardena
Most people take the I-405 north and exit near Venice Blvd. Outside rush hour, plan on roughly 25 to 35 minutes. By transit, the city’s GTrans buses connect across Gardena, and the Metro J Line stops along the I-110 at the Harbor Gateway Transit Center nearby. Reaching Mar Vista by transit takes connections, so check Metro’s trip planner.
Gardena and the courts
Gardena has its own police department. Cases from the South Bay are often heard in the Superior Court’s Southwest District, which includes the Torrance and Inglewood courthouses, though some cases from the area go to the Compton Courthouse. Check your paperwork. We offer court ordered testing with chain of custody documentation when needed.
Families in Gardena
Gardena’s public schools are part of the Los Angeles Unified School District, and El Camino College is just southwest of the city. Families who are worried about a teen or a young adult can call us first, before deciding what to say at home.
Testing options
Every plan starts with a phone call and a real person. Here is what Gardena clients can set up:
- One-time testing. A single scheduled test when you need an answer now.
- Random testing program. You are notified when to report, so tests cannot be planned around. See our random drug testing program.
- Ongoing monitoring. A coordinator who knows you, a schedule that can change as things improve, and results shared only with people you authorize in writing. Learn about drug and alcohol monitoring.
- Court ordered testing. Court ordered testing with chain of custody documentation when it is needed.
Tests include a 12 panel urine drug test that covers common substances such as opioids, stimulants, benzodiazepines and cannabis, fentanyl testing, an EtG alcohol test, a breathalyzer, and saliva testing on request. Positives that will be acted on are confirmed by partner laboratories. Bring a photo ID to intake. Observed collection is used when a court, program or agreement requires it. Compare everything on our services page.
Mobile testing
Mobile testing at a home or workplace is offered for an additional fee. Gardena is a long way from our Westside office, so mobile testing may be available in your area; call to ask before you plan around it. Outside office hours, testing can also be arranged at other Blackburn locations on the Westside.

Common questions
Can I use GTrans and Metro to get from Gardena to your office?
It is possible with connections, including the Metro J Line along the I-110. Driving is much faster, so check Metro's trip planner if you plan to ride.
Is a Gardena case heard in Torrance or Compton?
It depends on the case. South Bay cases are often in the Southwest District, but some go to Compton. Your paperwork names the courthouse.
How long is the drive from Gardena?
Roughly 25 to 35 minutes on the I-405 outside rush hour, and longer on weekday mornings and afternoons.
Can a Gardena family test an adult child who still lives at home?
Yes, with the adult child's written consent to share results. We can help the family decide what the agreement should cover.
