Drug and alcohol testing near Long Beach

In short

Blackburn Monitoring serves Long Beach residents from our office at 12326 Venice Blvd in Mar Vista, roughly 24 miles from downtown Long Beach. We offer low cost one-time tests, random programs, ongoing monitoring and court ordered testing, with a real coordinator and results shared only with people you authorize.

Long Beach is the second largest city in Los Angeles County, a port city with its own police department, school district and transit system. We do not have an office in Long Beach. People call us because they want affordable testing with a person behind it, and a referral path to more help if they need it.

Getting to us from Long Beach

Most people take the I-405 north to Venice Blvd. From downtown, the I-710 north to the I-405 is another option. Outside rush hour, plan on roughly 35 to 50 minutes, and much longer at peak times. By transit, the Metro A Line runs from Long Beach to downtown Los Angeles, where you can transfer to the E Line west and a bus along Venice Blvd. It works, but it is a long trip, so check Metro’s trip planner.

Long Beach and the courts

Many Long Beach cases are heard at the Governor George Deukmejian Courthouse downtown, which is in the Superior Court’s South District. Some cases may be assigned elsewhere, so check your paperwork. If a judge, probation officer or attorney requires testing, we offer chain of custody documentation when needed, and results go only to the people you authorize in writing.

Families and students

Long Beach Unified School District serves the city, and Long Beach City College and California State University, Long Beach are both here. We hear from parents of teens and from families of college students who want a clear, private way to rebuild trust.

Testing options

There is no one size plan. People from Long Beach usually start with one of these:

  • One-time testing. A single scheduled test when you need an answer now.
  • Random testing program. You are notified when to report, so tests cannot be planned around. See our random drug testing program.
  • Ongoing monitoring. A coordinator who knows you, a schedule that can change as things improve, and results shared only with people you authorize in writing. Learn about drug and alcohol monitoring.
  • Court ordered testing. Court ordered testing with chain of custody documentation when it is needed.

Tests include a 12 panel urine drug test that covers common substances such as opioids, stimulants, benzodiazepines and cannabis, fentanyl testing, an EtG alcohol test, a breathalyzer, and saliva testing on request. Positives that will be acted on are confirmed by partner laboratories. Bring a photo ID to intake. Observed collection is used when a court, program or agreement requires it. Compare everything on our services page.

Mobile testing

Mobile testing at a home or workplace is offered for an additional fee. Long Beach is a long way from our Westside office, so mobile testing may be available in your area; call to ask before you plan around it. Outside office hours, testing can also be arranged at other Blackburn locations on the Westside.

Partly. The A Line runs to downtown Los Angeles, where you can transfer to the E Line west and a bus on Venice Blvd. Expect a long ride and check Metro's trip planner.

Will results from Mar Vista be accepted for a Long Beach court case?

Many courts accept outside testing, but rules vary. Ask your attorney or probation officer before you start, and we can provide chain of custody documentation.

Can a Cal State Long Beach student test with you privately?
