Getting to us from Monterey Park
Most people take the I-10 west the whole way, then exit near the I-405 and head to Venice Blvd. Outside rush hour, plan on roughly 30 to 45 minutes, and much longer at peak times. By transit, the Metro J Line runs along the I-10 busway with a stop at Cal State LA next to the city; connecting to the Westside takes transfers through downtown.
Monterey Park and the courts
Monterey Park has its own police department. Cases from the western San Gabriel Valley are often heard in the Superior Court’s Northeast District, which includes the Alhambra Courthouse, but your case may be elsewhere, so check your paperwork. We offer chain of custody documentation when needed.
Students and families
East Los Angeles College is located in Monterey Park, and parts of the city are served by school districts including Alhambra Unified, Garvey and Montebello Unified. We hear from parents of teens and from families of young adults who want a structure that is fair and private.
Testing options
Whether you need one test this week or a structure for the next year, Monterey Park clients choose from four options:
- One-time testing. A single scheduled test when you need an answer now.
- Random testing program. You are notified when to report, so tests cannot be planned around. See our random drug testing program.
- Ongoing monitoring. A coordinator who knows you, a schedule that can change as things improve, and results shared only with people you authorize in writing. Learn about drug and alcohol monitoring.
- Court ordered testing. Court ordered testing with chain of custody documentation when it is needed.
Tests include a 12 panel urine drug test that covers common substances such as opioids, stimulants, benzodiazepines and cannabis, fentanyl testing, an EtG alcohol test, a breathalyzer, and saliva testing on request. Positives that will be acted on are confirmed by partner laboratories. Bring a photo ID to intake. Observed collection is used when a court, program or agreement requires it. Compare everything on our services page.
Mobile testing
Mobile testing at a home or workplace is offered for an additional fee. Monterey Park is a long way from our Westside office, so mobile testing may be available in your area; call to ask before you plan around it. Outside office hours, testing can also be arranged at other Blackburn locations on the Westside.

Common questions
Can an East Los Angeles College student test with you?
Yes. Adult students choose in writing who receives their results. Nobody else, including parents, is told without that consent.
Is the J Line a good way from Monterey Park to Mar Vista?
It gets you to downtown Los Angeles quickly, but you will need more connections to reach the Westside. Driving the I-10 is faster for most people.
Which courthouse would hear a Monterey Park case?
Often a courthouse in the Northeast District, such as Alhambra. Your citation or court notice names the exact location.
How long is the drive from Monterey Park on the I-10?
Roughly 30 to 45 minutes outside rush hour, and longer during weekday peaks.
