Drug and alcohol testing near Pacific Palisades
In short
Pacific Palisades is about 7 to 9 miles by road from Blackburn Monitoring at 12326 Venice Blvd, Los Angeles. Mobile testing at home or work, for an additional fee, is often the easier choice, and office testing is by appointment Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM.
Pacific Palisades is a coastal neighborhood of the City of Los Angeles, tucked between the Santa Monica Mountains and the ocean. It is also the farthest of the Westside areas we serve, and the routes in and out can be slow. That makes the question of where to test as important as which test to take.

Getting to us from the Palisades
- Along the coast: Pacific Coast Highway south into Santa Monica, then Lincoln Blvd south to Venice Blvd and east into Mar Vista.
- Inland: Sunset Blvd east to the 405, then south to the Venice Blvd exit.
Either way it is roughly 7 to 9 miles. Outside rush hour, expect about 25 to 40 minutes. PCH closures, construction and canyon traffic can change that quickly, so check conditions before you leave. Public transit from the Palisades to Venice Blvd usually means a bus into Santa Monica and a transfer; a trip planner will show current options.
Why mobile testing often makes sense here
Random testing works only when someone can report reliably on short notice. A round trip of an hour or more makes that hard, especially on a workday. For Palisades clients, mobile testing at home or work, for an additional fee, can be the difference between a plan that holds and one that slowly falls apart. Mobile visits use the same tests and the same partner laboratory confirmation as the office.
Some people mix approaches: mobile visits most of the time, and an office visit when they are already in Santa Monica or on the Westside. Outside office hours, testing can also be arranged at other Blackburn locations on the Westside.
Picking tests when visits are less frequent
If tests happen less often, choose tests that look back further. A breath test sees only the past few hours. An EtG test looks back over several days; Mayo Clinic Laboratories states it can be detected for up to 5 days at a 500 ng/mL cutoff. A 12 panel urine cup generally reflects drug use over the past few days, as described in SAMHSA’s TAP 32. Your coordinator will help you build a schedule that still means something.
Families in hard seasons
Stress can push drinking and drug use up, for anyone. If someone in your family is struggling, testing can bring clarity, but it works best alongside support. Through Blackburn, that can mean therapy and psychiatric care, one-on-one mentoring for accountability and structure, sober living, or help with the cost of treatment. Your coordinator can make the introduction.
Tests available to Pacific Palisades clients
- 12 panel urine drug test for common drug classes, with results in minutes.
- EtG alcohol test for drinking over recent days, and a breathalyzer for alcohol right now.
- Saliva testing on request, in person.
- Partner laboratory confirmation for positives, and chain of custody documentation when needed.
Bring a photo ID and a list of your medications to every test. Some prescriptions can show on a screen, and knowing about them up front means results are read correctly and fairly.
Cost
Our testing is low cost. Mobile visits add a fee; your total also depends on the tests, frequency and whether lab confirmation or written reports are needed. Read how monitoring works, or see all areas we serve.
Need more than testing?
Monitoring is the first step, not the last. If a result or a hard week tells you more help is needed, Blackburn can connect you to it.

Common questions
Is it worth driving from the Palisades for every test?
For many people, no. Mobile testing at home or work, for an additional fee, makes random testing far easier to keep up.
How long does it take to reach your office from Pacific Palisades?
About 7 to 9 miles, often 25 to 40 minutes outside rush hour. PCH and canyon traffic can add time.
If I test less often, which tests should I choose?
Tests with longer windows, such as EtG for alcohol and a urine drug screen, cover more of the time between visits than a breath test.
Can I switch between mobile and office testing?
Yes. Some people use mobile testing most of the time and come to the office when they are nearby.
