Drug and alcohol testing near Carson
In short
Blackburn Monitoring is about 18 miles from Carson at 12326 Venice Blvd in Mar Vista, mostly a straight run up the I-405. Carson residents can test by appointment Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, and mobile testing may be available; call to ask.
Carson is a South Bay city bordered by major freeways: the I-405 crosses it, the I-110 Harbor Freeway runs along the west side, and the CA-91 runs through the north. That makes getting to the Westside fairly simple, even if traffic is not.

Getting to us from Carson
Take I-405 north and exit at Venice Blvd, then head west a short distance. Outside rush hour, plan on roughly 30 to 35 minutes. Weekday mornings and late afternoons on the 405 can double that, so leave room in your schedule.
For transit, Metro J Line buses run along the I-110 Harbor Freeway corridor west of Carson toward downtown Los Angeles, and other routes connect to the K Line in the South Bay. Trips to Mar Vista take transfers, so use Metro’s trip planner.
Which court handles a Carson case
Carson sits near the line between two Superior Court districts. Depending on the case, it may be heard at the Compton Courthouse in the South Central District or at the Torrance Courthouse in the Southwest District. Check your paperwork. Either way, our court ordered testing comes with chain of custody documentation when needed.
Testing options for Carson clients
- One-time tests. A single 12 panel urine drug test, a breathalyzer or an EtG alcohol test when you need an answer now. See one-time testing.
- Random testing program. You get a notice when it is your day to test, so nobody can plan around it. See the random drug testing program.
- Ongoing monitoring. A schedule set case by case with a monitoring coordinator who knows you and shares results only with people you authorize in writing. See drug and alcohol monitoring.
- Court ordered testing. Observed collection when required and chain of custody documentation when needed. See court ordered testing.
Screens cover common substances such as opioids, including fentanyl, stimulants, benzodiazepines and cannabis. Positives that will be acted on are confirmed by partner laboratories. Bring a photo ID and a list of your medications so results are read fairly.
Mobile testing
Mobile testing, where we come to your home or work for an additional fee, may be available in Carson. Call to ask before you count on it. Outside our office hours, testing can sometimes be arranged at other Blackburn locations on the Westside.

Will my Carson case be in Compton or Torrance?
It depends on the case type and where it was filed. Your citation, summons or court notice names the courthouse. We can document testing for either.
Is the I-405 the fastest way from Carson?
Usually. Take the 405 north to the Venice Blvd exit. About 30 to 35 minutes in light traffic, longer at rush hour.
Can an employee in Carson test for a return to work agreement?
Yes, for non DOT arrangements. We do not perform DOT regulated testing. Results go only to people the employee authorizes in writing.
Can you come to a Carson home to test?
