Drug and alcohol testing near Hawthorne
In short
Blackburn Monitoring is about 9 miles north of Hawthorne, at 12326 Venice Blvd in Mar Vista. Hawthorne residents and workers can test by appointment Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, or ask about mobile testing at home or work for an additional fee.
Hawthorne is one of the closest South Bay cities to our office. The I-405 runs along its western edge and the I-105 crosses its north side, so most people reach us in well under an hour. We do not have an office in Hawthorne, but we are close enough to be part of a regular routine.

Getting to us from Hawthorne
Most people take the I-405 north to Venice Blvd. Outside rush hour, plan on roughly 20 to 30 minutes. Surface streets such as Sepulveda Blvd or Centinela Ave can be a good backup when the freeway is jammed. By transit, the Metro C Line stops at Hawthorne/Lennox and Crenshaw stations along the I-105; connecting to Mar Vista takes transfers, so check Metro’s trip planner.
Hawthorne and the courts
Hawthorne has its own police department. Cases from Hawthorne are often heard at the Inglewood Courthouse in the Superior Court’s Southwest District, but check your paperwork, since some matters go to other courthouses. We offer court ordered testing with chain of custody documentation when needed, and results go only to the people you authorize.
Families in Hawthorne
Younger students in Hawthorne mostly attend the Hawthorne School District, and most of the city’s high school students are in the Centinela Valley Union High School District. Parents are welcome to call before talking to their teen, so they understand what testing can and cannot show.
Testing options
Whether you need one test this week or a structure for the next year, Hawthorne clients choose from four options:
- One-time testing. A single scheduled test when you need an answer now.
- Random testing program. You are notified when to report, so tests cannot be planned around. See our random drug testing program.
- Ongoing monitoring. A coordinator who knows you, a schedule that can change as things improve, and results shared only with people you authorize in writing. Learn about drug and alcohol monitoring.
- Court ordered testing. Court ordered testing with chain of custody documentation when it is needed.
Tests include a 12 panel urine drug test that covers common substances such as opioids, stimulants, benzodiazepines and cannabis, fentanyl testing, an EtG alcohol test, a breathalyzer, and saliva testing on request. Positives that will be acted on are confirmed by partner laboratories. Bring a photo ID to intake. Observed collection is used when a court, program or agreement requires it. Compare everything on our services page.
Mobile testing
Hawthorne is close to the Westside, so if the drive does not fit your day, mobile testing at your home or workplace is offered for an additional fee. Call to confirm scheduling for your address. Outside office hours, testing can be arranged at other Blackburn locations on the Westside.
