Drug and alcohol testing near Lakewood
In short
Blackburn Monitoring serves Lakewood residents from our office at 12326 Venice Blvd in Mar Vista, about 24 miles away. Testing is by appointment Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, with low cost options and a coordinator who knows your plan.
Lakewood is a residential city in southeast Los Angeles County, between Long Beach and the I-605. It is known as one of the first cities to contract with the county for services like law enforcement, an approach many other cities later copied. We do not have an office in Lakewood. We offer affordable testing and real people on the phone.

Getting to us from Lakewood
Most people take the I-405 north to Venice Blvd, or the I-605 north to the I-105 west and then the I-405 north. Outside rush hour, plan on roughly 35 to 50 minutes. The I-405 between Long Beach and the airport area is often slow at peak times, so midday appointments are easiest.
Lakewood and the courts
Lakewood contracts with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Depending on the case, matters from Lakewood may be handled in the Superior Court’s Southeast District or at the Governor George Deukmejian Courthouse in Long Beach. Check your paperwork for your courthouse. We offer court ordered testing with chain of custody documentation when needed.
Families in Lakewood
Four public school districts serve different parts of Lakewood: ABC Unified, Bellflower Unified, Long Beach Unified and Paramount Unified. Whatever school your teen attends, parents can call us first to talk through whether testing makes sense and how to raise it.
Testing options
Whether you need one test this week or a structure for the next year, Lakewood clients choose from four options:
- One-time testing. A single scheduled test when you need an answer now.
- Random testing program. You are notified when to report, so tests cannot be planned around. See our random drug testing program.
- Ongoing monitoring. A coordinator who knows you, a schedule that can change as things improve, and results shared only with people you authorize in writing. Learn about drug and alcohol monitoring.
- Court ordered testing. Court ordered testing with chain of custody documentation when it is needed.
Tests include a 12 panel urine drug test that covers common substances such as opioids, stimulants, benzodiazepines and cannabis, fentanyl testing, an EtG alcohol test, a breathalyzer, and saliva testing on request. Positives that will be acted on are confirmed by partner laboratories. Bring a photo ID to intake. Observed collection is used when a court, program or agreement requires it. Compare everything on our services page.
Mobile testing
Mobile testing at a home or workplace is offered for an additional fee. Lakewood is a long way from our Westside office, so mobile testing may be available in your area; call to ask before you plan around it. Outside office hours, testing can also be arranged at other Blackburn locations on the Westside.

Common questions
Which freeway is best from Lakewood to Mar Vista?
Usually the I-405 north. The I-605 to the I-105 and then the I-405 is an alternative when the I-405 through Long Beach is backed up.
Will a Lakewood case be heard in Long Beach?
It might be, or it might be in the Southeast District. Check your court notice for the exact courthouse.
Can a Lakewood parent get results for a 17 year old?
Parents can arrange testing for a minor. We will talk with you about how to involve your teen so testing feels like support, not punishment.
Is it realistic to do random testing from Lakewood?
For many people, yes, as long as the reporting window allows for the drive. We set that window with you.
